Solsis VII is a heavily forested world, inhabited for centuries only by the Hobben (descended from early Zabrak settlers), until explorers re-discovered the planet during the rise of the New Republic. Containing a rich array of wildlife and plantlife, much of which is deadly, most of Solsis VII has remained untouched, its natural dangers too great to risk harvesting by those few non-natives who have surveyed the planet.
When first encountered, the Hobben natives were extremely primitive by Galactic standards (presumably, the technologies of the Zabrak settlers had been lost), but over the years since their re-discovering the Hobben have made rapid industrialization a focal point of their society, taking care to meld their innate connection with nature with the technology of the greater galaxy. Being remote and difficult to reach by standard hyperspace routes has left Solsis VII isolated and in relative peace, aside from the occasional scoundrel seeking refuge on the backwater and the infrequent merchant hustling the cutting edge technologies of yesteryear.
The Hobben Clearly descended from the Zabrak, Hobben manifest many of the same characteristics. They have long since evolved to best manage on their heavily forested world however. Hobben organize themselves into tribal groups. In the past, these warred all the time, but the last century or so has been relatively peaceful, and the world has begun to prosper as for the first time travel and trade have become a possibility. Still, the world has its fair share of dangerous predators, and a warrior may find a great deal of work protecting his village, travelers, or going out to slay beasts for valuable meat, skins, and bones.
Each tribe has its own group of shamans, all of whom believe in the concept they call the Ali'La, or the living will of the world. Over the years, the shamans have gathered together to form a council that represents the interests of the Hobben people to the rest of the galaxy. The leader of this council, the Voice of the Ali'La as he is titled, arbitrates disputes between tribes and has the final vote in the council. Selected for his wisdom, strength, and connection to the Ali'La, the Voice is considered the de facto leader of the Hobben people by the rest of the galaxy, and he has hopes to usher his people into a greater age of prosperity and prominence.
Hydil Industries The Hunter-Shaman was designed to win a contract from the Hobben of Solsis VII, who have recently become involved in Galactic society as a new member of the Galactic Alliance. As a primitive species, the Hobben are still learning the technologies that most of the Galaxy take for granted. Though ultimately they wish to produce their own vehicles, and have begun making such attempts, their need for a navy has forced them to look at off-world suppliers. Hydill Industries, a small company formed by a group of talented young designers, won the contract by promising the best value for money. Ayix Hydill, who fronted the money, has informed the press that Hydill Industries hopes to use the opportunity to showcase their abilities to the Galactic public, ensuring future business and profit.
Among the first starships designed by Hydill Industries, the Hunter-Shaman promises great things to come from this fledgling company. The droid starfighter, while far more expensive to produce than most of its kind, is still far cheaper than the majority of its contemporary piloted starfighters. The savings in training and wages alone are a plus, and the in-built customization of the craft makes it very flexible. Shamans are employed successfully throughout the Solsis system, in particular in the planetary defense of Solsis VII itself.
After winning the contract with their droid starfighter design, Hydill Industries were tasked with creating additional ships. Particularly, the Hobben needed a capital ship to be the centre of Solsis VII's defensive network. The result was the Ayix-Class Assault Frigate. This design was further tailored to suit the needs of the Hobben before being put into production, resulting in the "Ali'La" Assault Frigate. The initial design was later made available to other customers.
